Streptococcus pneumoniae from invasive disease

Laboratories throughout New Zealand are requested to refer all invasive isolates of S. pneumoniae to ESR as part of the laboratory-based surveillance of pneumococcal invasive disease. The antimicrobial susceptibility of these isolates is routinely tested at ESR. Annual reports on antimicrobial susceptibility among S. pneumoniae from invasive disease are available below for 2002 through to 2007. Since 2008, ESR has produced comprehensive annual reports on invasive pneumococcal disease, which include antimicrobial susceptibility data. Therefore, the separate reports on antimicrobial susceptibility have been discontinued. The invasive pneumococcal disease annual reports can be found here.
